50mpbs for $90 in the US

Yes we all know that ADSL oversees is alot cheaper than us...why? because they have a far more advance network than we do and have been running it alot longer than we have. So come on already...

That may be so but it's also because of another little thing that only we have: Telkom.

Even with telkom, there is no way u can draw a comparison between us and first world nations with no monopolising ex-parastatels. Because of how Telkom was created and controlled over the years (Apartheid), its nearly impossible to for them to just drop the charges to something internationally competitive. Our network is 2 old and our infrastructure is 2 cumbersom and resource intensive for prices to be anywhere we want them to be. Unfortunatly we have to play the waiting game here.

your very very wrong there my mate

the reason why its cheap overseas is because there are companies and alot of them, doing the same thing charging less

so you want to get business you charge as little as possible
you also go out of your way to ensure customer satisfaction

TELKOM:
why charge such a little when we are the only company (5 billion sound good to you okes?)
customer service: hey buddy we are the only company that can help you, so stop phoning and bitching so much, we will get to you when we get to you

Yes exactly, competition is the key, and because Telkom had the monopoly because of goverment, there was never reason to upgrade etc because there was no competition and no need to create newer and better services.. they are suffering now and will continue to suffer until the market is more established. Because there are no regulators oversees, competition was able to flourish and hence their networks being constantly improved and upgraded for better service... instead of decades of improvements, Telkom have had only a few years. So i wouldnt say that im very very wrong there....
