I recently upgraded my Telskum 5102G router's firmware. Afterwards I decided I didn't like the new fw so I telnetted to 10.0.0.2 and did sys romreset and then did a hard reset of the router. Now I cant access it at ALL (not from telnet or browser, tried both 10.0.0.2and 192.168.1.254). I am at my wits end trying to get my router back up and running. Can anyone help please?

Why did u flash it? Was there problems with it? "Don't fix whats not broken"

I wanted to use it in half bridge mode and read you needed updated fw. Plus I cant help but tinker and fiddle :P Which often gets me in trouble ... like now.

I downloaded the latest fw and installed it via the user interface accessed via 10.0.0.2 in the maintenance section.

Did you do it via cable or wirelessly? It sounds like it's bricked. I've heard you can recover some routers. Don't know about this one.

Thanks for the link Sackboy. So it seems I need to determine which IP it defaulted to (the ome mentioned at the end wasnt it). Any thoughts on how to do this?

Try and brainstorm it slowly.

  • What lights are showing.
  • Can you ping it. Is it just a case of changed IP and/or password.
  • What does IPCONFIG/ALL show?
  • With the router on, can you see anything wirelessly from another PC? (Netstumbler or some other network sniffer)

Haha, I am back in! Thank you Sackboy, you rock.

I suspected that my router was working fine because all of the normal lights were on (Power, Sys, WLan, Lan, ADSL) and it responded normally to hard resets.

I also knew that it had a wireless network set up because I could see it on my phone.

So I checked ipconfig /all and found the gateway. Turns out it defaulted to 192.168.1.254

So thank you everyone for all your help, and specially Sackboy for walking silly lil 'ol me through it. I owe you ;)

Ah yes, and as useful and fun as it is having internet on your phone ... I am sooooo glad to have a full screen and full keyboard in front of me again. My Omnia saved my bacon by giving me access to this forum but it wasn't pleasant. :P

No problem, nothing owed.:p

Can someone give me any advice ... like 4sak3n I wanted to run the router in normal PPPoE mode and then be able to use bridged as well (so I can use a local only account for work stuff on 1 machine and normal we on another) - sounded like the new FW would help so I applied 2.7.0.23(ZUE0.B1)3.3.2.5 - all was fine with that and DSL came up fine etc.
However ... if I connect to the web interface all I can get is the device info status page. There is no menu bar thing for the other pages. I did some more searching and thought maybe was a dodgy FW version so went up to 2.9.5.3(ZUE0.B1)3.5.18.0
Same thing.
I am a little reluctant to do a factory reset by holding the reset for 6 seconds incase that also doesn't sort the web interface out then I am totally screwed without any access as I will have no ISP details in it then.
The only real page I want is the one that I can change my ISP login / password details so if someone can paste that URL then I can try that I'd appreciate it.
Advice?

Sorted except that I am getting constant weird disconnected, what firmware are other people using on this router? I currently have 2.9.5.3(ZUE0.B1)3.5.18.0 but may go back to 2.7.0.23(ZUE0.B1)3.3.2.5 now I know how to get the web page back up after doing a f/w upgrade.
