Getting the "Display driver stopped responding" error while trying to play Spore and Black and White 2. Has anyone found a solution for this or should I downgrade to XP. Although that throws DX11 out the window.

Had the same thing with my previous GT220, so its across the board, freaking shocking

Thanks so much for a link with a whole lot more unresolved cases of this problem- the question was not point me to a forum it was "has anyone solved this issue"

What driver are you currently using?

I'm on Win7 x32 running the 10.10 ATI driver with no problems in Black and White 2

I'll have to check just used the driver CD supplied with the card, currently downloading latest and trying the "run sweeper in safe mode" and reinstall newest drivers fix.
As far as I can see the problem is more common in 64bit

How long ago did you purchase the card?

Don't thik its a hardware prob though as it happened with my GT220 on the same PC. If it makes any difference its plugged into a 37inch HDTV

Just pre-empting Sharkbait, after doing a fair amount of research a new set of drivers didn't always fix the prob- I want an arsenal of possible solutions as theres a good chance I will tear my pc apart with my teeth

LoL. I understand now. :D But a new driver solved my problem when I got this error with my ex-5870...

lol sorry, I assumed that you wanted someone to help you, which requires actually troubleshooting the problem, and sevenforums has a lot more clued up people to help you than here.

But since we're playing 20 questions with no system specs, have you run memtest? The obvious culprit with 2 different cards from different vendors is the ram.

edit: next obvious is a service that is causing a conflict, so check event viewer.

Sorry Rudimental perhaps came off as a bit rash there, apologies :)

PS: System = i3 3.2ghz
3GB RAM
Windows 7 basic 64bit
Coolermaster xtreme 460w (bought with gpu 5 days ago)
MSI mobo not sure model.
Club3d 5770 1GB DDR5

None of that really helps much but people have mention RAM issues causing this whilst others have exeprienced the same problem with RAM in good order so it seems the error may have multiple possible sources.

What is your ram configuration? 2 x 1GB + 2 x 512GB? 3 x 1GB?

You also can try to check the ram by swapping out the sticks, running one at a time in the first slot and see if that changes anything.

If you run the Event Viewer (Control Panel -> Administrative Tools -> Event Viewer) you should be able to get some information as to your error, such as the error code and event id, and you can also check to see if there are other errors or warnings, which might indicate services or applications that are casuing the problem.
