Ive just signed up with rain 5 G,the download speeds are so inconsistent from 497Megs with a laptop connected with LAN to 40 megs witha Samsung S9 connected wirelessly sitting next to the router, within 2 minutes of each test, has any other had such inconstrnt results

Wireless is inconsistent look at your link speed for starters sound like someone who is new to fibre

Not sure what you mean? This is Rain 5G ,not Fibre
He mean you are doing the speed tests via wireless, like on your phone connected wirelessly to your router. All speed tests should be done via and Ethernet connected device for a true reflection of your speed

Exactly. Wireless will never be consistent.

Thanks for all you replies GUYS But im measuring the speed between the router and the nearest tower not between the router and a device, surely the method or or Machine is irrelevant! or am i wrong?

Huawei wireless devices leave a lot to be desired unfortunately. Not happy with Q2 I have.

The speed isn’t between you and the tower. The speed you get from speed tests is between you and the server you are testing against.

As mentioned, WiFi isn’t a true showing of your current speed. Wired internet is.

If you want to understand the signal between you and the tower, ask @cavedog to assist in explaining.
