5G Phase 2 standards released - Big benefits expected

Apple Inc. has finally joined the 5G party, and it’s a well-timed entrance.

Often derided for being late to new technologies, and rightly so, the launch of its first 5G iPhones coincides with some important changes to be rolled out by the telecoms industry this quarter.

As a result, wireless connections are going to get better and smartphone performance should improve.

Still a bit of a gimmick.

Expensive and not yet widespread enough to be all that useful.

Early adopters can show off their capabilities but for the rest of us, it'll probably only make a difference in a couple of years.

I suppose the load on LTE could decrease as 5G picks up so at least there's that.

I was probably a generation behind in phone model in upgrading from 2G > 3G.

2 or maybe even 3 yrs going from 3G to 4G (speed vs cost- for me slower was safer too!).

Given the performance of my LTE-A and even plain old LTE phones, I won't be getting to 5G for a while.

Maybe the peeps should rather focus on first providing a stable wireless/cabled solution, at 6-10 meg speeds, true uncapped, all data allowed, at a price of R400-R600 (adjust for your countries currency).
The tech is constantly increasing, but on the ground , the world is still stuck at 10 year old constraints and pricing.

Pls go tell Rain so that they can start doing their part as well. These days their 5G LTE is 40% ADSL 20% 4G 30% 5G and 10% dead connection.
