6 tips to improve and refresh your CV

I do not see why people still have CVs that are longer than 1 page. Recruiters do not have time to go through multiple pages where the actual information could have been captured on a single page. I also think having some sort of portfolio might help as well (a website or git profile or something, with all your public-facing work).

Also, I think the references section should be removed from the CV; doesn't seem like recruiters use this information.

That's why page 1 should be the summary followed by details that can be read as needed?

I really need to keep my CV updated. I went over it and it was last updated 5 years ago. I probably lost track of all the conferences and seminars I attended.

Page 1 should be everything the recruiter needs to know (at least that is what I feel), nothing more than that. I have seen people list their high school subjects, their maritual status, and other particulars which are not relevant. CV should have only the most relevant information (you cant be listing your intern position(s) or university job details when you are miles ahead in your career). There are cool 1 page CV designs that can capture everything quite nicely.

Obviously... write up your cv promoting you as the target market with the required skill set leaving irrelevant **** out. Otherwise, you will of course either bore the person, waste their time or simply confuse them as to what you are applying for/what you can actually do.
