Nice - and a good price to boot!If anyone is interested I bought one from Orms North for R9080. Not too bad for a walk-in price.

and speaking of boots - don't forget the foot shot!![]()
I'm a fan of Orms now ...
I think one of the issues I thought there would be was couriering. I was worried about damage, and tracking, and days of waiting etc etc - but I received it 9:00 a day after they sent it!
Did you read any reviews of the 60D - they probably all mention the feature changes that the 60D has compared with the 50D, some of which (like the mode dial lock) I wish the 7D had. I think canon was smart to more clearly distinguish the model lines. So far on first impressions I am not that impressed with the 60D. I guess maybe I shouldn't have assumed it was an upgrade to the 50D and done more research before buying. The frame is smaller and made of plastic instead of alloy, there are no microadjustments anymore, most of the handy buttons at the back are missing, there's no more joystick either. Basically it's a more fancy 550 instead of being a semi pro camera. I think the 7D has pretty much taken up the semi pro spot and left the 60D as a enthusiasts camera.
It's going to take some getting used to after my 50D and 40D in terms on controlling the bugger but from reading it appears the performance is incredible.
I guess the only proof of the product is in the using so I'll take a few shots and report back in a month or so. Who knows, maybe I'll have sold it by then and pushed the budget to a 7D which is probably what I should have done in the beginning.

Unless I really needed the faster frame rate I wouldn't even bother thinking about upgrading to the 7D, but that's just me.![]()
I think you'll get used to the new control layout pretty quickly. The Q screen takes a little getting used to but most of the settings are easily accessible from there.I did read a few and it didn't bother me until I had it in my hand. I'm terrible like that, see something I like, research it and decide that I want the better model then buy the lower model because the better one is too expensive and land up being disappointed.
Having said that I haven't taken it for a spin yet, I will probably be pleasantly surprised as every review says the performance is better than the 50D and 550D and the 550D is only 1K cheaper or thereabouts.

BTW - foot shot - every time I get a new camera the first shot I take is of my foot, just to get it out of the way. Just a silly superstitious carry-over from my film days.![]()
Lol, that is odd to say the least but quite cool as well.
I wanted to the 60D initially and most review sites said exactly what you've found ; the 60D is more a 550D upgrade than a 50D replacement ... And the 7D is the replacement.
Exactly what I went through recently too, now I'd rather go for the 7D.
but you've only just bought it?So far on first impressions I am not that impressed with the 60D.
but it's lighter of course and how does what the body is made from change how you take photographs? The frame is smaller and made of plastic instead of alloy
yes but you'll find the new multi-dial is better than all those buttons. Plus they needed to move the buttons from the left to accommodate the flip out screen.most of the handy buttons at the back are missing, there's no more joystick either
Rubbish! Who cares what the so called experts have termed the 60D, it's what you produce with it that counts surely?Basically it's a more fancy 550 instead of being a semi pro camera
