I just popped over to the website of the broadband provider I used in Connecticut, USA while I stayed there in 2002. Back then I had a 4Mbps uncapped connection, but now they offer new packages.

What strikes me as very odd is how can you market a 60Mbps services as "Ideal for chatting and checking e-mail"?

Web Chatting in Full HD. Most times you open multiple web chats to see which one is active:D.

"Download massive files instantly"

I define massive as > 100GB, and instantly < 1ms. Ain't gonna happen!

Again this just highligts the fact that our fibre network in Cape Town is so far behind.
Went to a telkom office in a shopping centre enquiring about fibre. The chap told me, off the record of course, that my area was so old, even the fact that I live +- 1km from the biggest Telkom exchange will not guarentee any fibre any time soon.
Cost involved in digging trenches for fibre cable in the old areas way to high

SAD indeed.
