If I format the memory card and do a factory reset will the gps application install again or will I have to install it from the CD?

The navteq app is part of the firmware however your maps are stored on the memory card. You can just backup the card and then format it then copy the data back onto it or otherwise use the route66 cd to restore your map and key.

Yeah as he said, the maps themselves are on the card, you can backup the card and restore it. If you dont want to do that then you could just backup the 'cities' folder on the card and restore that
