Esquire is selling a gtx 660 for R2500. Its a Point of View graphics card which I have never heard of before. Has anyone else had experience with them? I initially wanted to buy the 7850 MSI TF for R2500 also from Wootware but I've been looking at the benchmarks on Anandtech and it seems the 660 is better at most games I'm currently playing...BF3 and Borderlands 2.

I will be playing on 1920x1200 res.

I've also had my eye on the 7870 MSI TF which is selling for R2900 on Evetech, but I I'm thinking if I'm going to be spending 3k I might as well get the Leadtek 660TI from Wootware since according to benchmarks it seems to be better than the 7870?

TLDR

Is the performance increase worth an extra R500 between a gtx 660/7850 and a gtx660ti/7870?

Imo the GTX 660 is the better card to go for than the 7850. I don't like the quality of
PoV Graphics cards though. Much like Inno3D, they're not made to last.

If you're in that price range, the Leadtek 660Ti sounds like a pretty good deal at ~R3K.

That being said, if you don't plan on keeping the card for longer than a year, than
PoV is an option.

I like the fact that MSI products now carry a 3 year warranty like ASUS and Gigabyte.
To me MSI's quality is almost up their with ASUS, but doesn't quite make the cut.

As things currently stand, the Geforce is the better option (especially considering how differently BL2 behaves with Physx endbled). As drivers for the Radeon family further improve, it may end up being the better deal, but so far Nvidia's kept things pretty neck-and-neck. Go for the GTX660. If you have the extra cash, the Ti is even better. If you're an overclocker, though, AMD's the way to go, Nvidia's Geforce Boost feature really is a pain to work with.

My ex-boss also owned two POV cards and both were great performers. Their cooler design isn't as great as MSI or ASUS, but POV os a value brand, similar to Club3D and VTX3D or Sapphire, even.

When it comes to brands, MSI and ASUS lead the way in terms of quality. Gigabyte's better known for reliability and using much more hefty cooler options (no blower designs). Leadtek comes highly recommended because they have a great reputation overseas and they made some kick-ass workstation-class GPUs in the past.

PoV cards don't last. I've had to replace many of them in my time, they're usually just over
sometimes even just under a year old when they fail. Inno3D is a better option IMO. I don't know
much about Club3D or VTX3D, but Sapphire is a very good brand for AMD based cards.

I have had a POV card, and never once had an issue. That being said, I've never owned more then one as it has yet to die xD

I have a question, how do you even buy off esquire :P?

Edit: Nevermind, after much searching I have found it xD

I've decided not to buy the POV gtx 660.

I've narrowed it down either the EVGA 660 Superclocked or the MSI Twin Frozr 7870.

They cost about the same...R2800 - R2900.

I'm leaning towards the 660.

Thoughts?

Superclocked, because I'm assuming you know what BL2 does with Physx enabled :-)

rather get the 670 instead of the 660 it will last longer in the long run...

Yip :)

Out of my price range. The cheapest one I can find is R4299.

I'm not planning on keeping this new one long. With nvidia releasing new cards next year I can probably pick up a 670 a lot cheaper then.
