Ok,

So 2 months ago i bought an FX5500 to replace my Geforce 4 MX 440
card. This i did even though some enlightened forumites warned me not
too.

I went with a better crappy card because i needed something to hold me
over until March next year. But the FX5500 gave me worse performance on games than my Geforce 4.

I've been offered a Legend 6600 GT 128MB with a game of my choice for
R999 .

Is that a half decent price?

Good price but since you've been burnt once, I'd stick to the known brands like Gainward, Leadtek etc. My Gainward 6600GT runs hot with good cooling so I'd be worried getting a Legend which I beleive has very cheap cooling.

My 2 cents

Thanks Thorin .......

Hmmmmm ...... choices choices ...... i just wanna run Dungeon Siege 2 @ more than 10fps ....

There have been loads of those cards being sold over the past 2 months - They really are not very good hence the cheap prices. Stick to known brands.;

gigabyte are brilliant also.
Nothing wrong with them. Friends got a radeon 9800pro (gigabyte) and it keeps up with my 9800XT(saphire,btw sapphire is best ati manufact)

saphire isnt the best i dont think
they just get the chips before everyone else which helps them alot im sure

Gainward 6600GT golden sample...thats about the best 6600GT your gonna get :)

Yip Gainward have good stock cooling which evidently is important with these blazing hot 6600 temps!
