6710 Navigator

I don't think it's out in Europe yet. Perhaps they are still sorting out Nokia Maps 3, which is still in Beta.
They're also trying to shift old stock of the 6210 Nav, but not reducing the price enough (in SA).

Yeah, I see they say on GSM Arena that the release date is set for Q3 this year, so it'll probably take another 3-4 months to get here after that, :( and yes, as you say, probably need to unload all the 6210 stock that they've been trying to get rid of lately.

Pity, because the spec's really look good..... 10 MB/s download, 2MB upload, 30f/ps VGA video regarding, 5meg Carl Zeiss optics, GPS, etc......think I may just wait for this one...........

The specs of the Navigator 6710 looks awesome!

Now why is it not available in black? I want a black one! :(

MTN SP BUSINESS Q3.09 PROMOTION: GENERIC OFFERS

Got this list emailed to me the other day & the Nokia 6710 Navigator is available on the MTN 100 for R159pm, MTN 200 for R219pm ect... wef 13 Jul 2009 until 30 Sept 2009.

Wasn't planning to upgrade at the end of next month, still very happy with my 6110 Navigator. Will have to see with what type of navigation licence it comes. Anything less than 2 Years will be a ripoff.

I want this phone! But i'm upgrading with Vodacom. I wonder if Vodacom will have it and for that price! If not, I might be willing to port. Really really nice phone!

I got mine yesterday, it seems to be a nice little phone. At the mo' the navigator is tuned in to London, but apparently it takes a couple of days to go to SA maps, something about the licenses (what I know about this stuff is dangerous). I searched my living lungs out to try and find where to "find my position", and eventually phoned my friend and he told me.

The photo gallery also does this weird thing sometimes, where while you're scrolling through your photos and select one to view (or sometimes not even) it becomes possessed by the devil or something and starts zooming in and out by itself. I'm in two minds to go to my SP and let them figure it out and give me a new phone. I thought it was like the blackberry where if you shake/tilt the phone it changes views and stuff, but the same friend says his phone does that too - WTF??

I'm on Vodacom New Weekender + and had to pay in a once-off R900.00, but my subs stay the same @ R135.00.

EDIT:

Display Type TFT, 16M colors
Size 240 x 320 pixels, 2.6 inches
- Touch-sensitive zoom bar below display
- Accelerometer sensor for auto-rotate

Ok, read the stuffs in the gsm arena link provided above, and I think this could be the situation and not the devil . I thought it may be something like this, but it didn't do the auto zoom everytime I touched the sensitive pre-menstrual "selection key".

EDIT EDIT:

I took my phone back to my SP yesterday with a list of the problems, it zooms in and out on it' own and my fingers are no where near the touch-sensitive bar. I'd been reading online and lots of people have this problem as well as some of the others on my list. So we shall see what they say and whether I get a new phone or if they just load software and give me the "old" one back

The Zoom bar is a headache. I wish there was a way to turn it off, because otherwise this phone is value for money.

I didn't have problems with the zoom bar until I took the plastic screen protector thingy leading me to believe that i's obviously too sensitive. Don't people test this stuff before they ship devices.

Other than that I'm happy with my phone, would have prepared the N86 but that was a bit pricey, but feature wise this is not bad.

Oh and the Maps are free now anyway, with the new version of Ovi Maps http://maps.nokia.com and Maps 3.3 is phenomenal

Is anyone also experiencing a buzzing sound when making calls with this phone? Just got it back from Autopage/Nokia and nothing was done about this issue.

I found at least one other person who also experienced this:

I did several hardware resets and reinstallations of the software, but this did not change anything. I also noticed that the very latest version of the Maps app (3.03) does not make use of the digital compass anymore?
