Now North..behind the BW Curtain...
So my solid 6mbps line, has no become a solid 3.5mbps line...and my SNR is now hovering around 6...upstream is still around 0.6mbps....so have rebooted router, same stats, when I fool around with the ADSL G.DMT settings, I can get it up to 3.8mb and the SNR goes up to around 8. Is Telkom limiting my from syncing at a higher speed...?

Something's changed on your copper, increasing the noise.

I sometimes wonder that myself, especially since a call centre operator said to the the other day when complaining about slow speeds .. 'Sir I can see you've downloaded over 100gb this month'.

This despite me not being with Telkom ISP for data and paying for a 4mbps line which is back to ~2mbps.
What does how much I download on my 2 ISP accounts have to do with my line provider anyway?

okkies, so why would my SNR/Sync Speed increase with an adjust on the ADSL profiling from my side....? Any ideas?

The different modulations may have effects on how susceptible your line is to interference. The operative word being "may" as I haven't actually looked into this but it sounds likely.

Hi There,
First of all make sure that your pots filters are all working.
Make sure that you have not place something close to the telephone line e.g. an electrical heater. That can affect the line.
Then as has been said earlier something has changed on the copper connection and you need to get Telkom in to check it out.

Regards

Tim
