It must a have been a nerve wrecking time for passengers this week in SA. I can imagine people questioning any sound that is made.

As for the 737-200, that particular model has been around for 39 or so years, and from what I have read the model range of current 737s are sitting at 737-800! And globally there is a drive to phase out the 200s but we are still using them. And by companies that do high volumes every day!
 
"The CAA has given clearance to operate (the four aircraft)... the 10% remaining (requirements) have not been deemed as putting passengers at risk at all," she said.

Just the thought of the aircrafts not meeting 10% of the requirements scares me. Maybe they should explain what are those requirements that are deemed risk free.
 
The problem with many LCC aircraft is their age. A 737 was not meant to fly From 1982 - 2007/8.
