Hey all

So I recently got myself one of these badboys: https://www.asus.com/Graphics_Cards/GTX780DC23GD5/

When I turn my PC on, it beeps once in the BIOS, then does nothing for about 30 seconds, beeps again, and waits for another 20-30 seconds, then beeps again, and finally boots to windows.

Whyyyy is this happening? It kinda defeats the purpose of having a SSD. 'Quick to boot' isnt really happening at the moment.

Ive never had this issue with any of the other cards Ive used in my setup (which is in my signature)

Thanks for the help! :)

Look for bios settings like PEG etc.

Checked that, tried both setting it to auto (originally) and manually to PEG1 without any luck. Once I set it manually, the screen stays blank and I have to revert to old settings before I can get it boot again.

Also, Ive noticed I cant enter the BIOS with my 780GTX plugged in. Could it be interfering with my keyboard on boot? Im really out of ideas here.

Thanks for the help so far all!

What motherboard are you using? On some Gigabyte boards, you need to access the BIOS, locate PCI Rom Prioirty and switch between Legacy and UEFI to prevent the boot delay with some 780 cards...

Haha.

Next time get an AMD graphics card. :D

 It's a trap!

On paper AMD cards are better value. In practice not so much... At least in my experience.

My first ATI/AMD card was an X800XT Platinum which was awesome.
The second was a 4870 which was a terrible card, could never get V-Sync to work properly, and it ran hot as hell.

My latest one was a 6850, it was okay, but I couldn't have Internet Explorer 11 and windows media player working on the same PC for some weird reason. Also had lots of V-sync issues, but not as bad as 4870.

I'm sticking to midrange Nvidia cards from now on.

Im using the Z77X - UD5H at the moment.
Will google and/or test, and post back.
