May I be so rude as to ask why is the 7900 series cheaper than the 7800 counterparts?:)

Well I ask, because my Nephew bought himself an Asus 7800GTX 512MB card for over R7K in mid Feb!
I personally wouldn't spend that much on a card. He got some money from his 21st birthday and wanted the top of the range card.

Ye, cos the 7900gt at highly overclocked levels, like the xfx xxx, xt, and evga co superclocked, performs nearly on par with the 7800gtx 512mb at stock!

They are cheaper, cos they use a more cost effective manufacturing process, a smaller chip that runs cooler and more efficiently..
 
any news? none of the South African based e-retailer seem to have any yet:(
