Looking for used 8.9" lcd for Mecer netbook. New price is higher than what I paid for the netbook! Any ideas??? Original screen is CPT(Chunghwa Picture Tubes), CLAA089NA0BCW.

You can either :

1. Fix it - depending on the fix, a month's warranty or so. If you fix it yourself, no warranty. (not suggested)
2. Buy a new one, get a year's full warranty on it. (recommended)
3. Buy an external flat screen LCD and use the netbook as a desktop PC. (2nd best option)

Good luck, but agree with the general sentiment that it's not worth replacing.

Even better, get a new 10". Prices are ridiculous atm and that extra inch makes a huge difference.

My wife says it's not true. :p

I am so tempted to say "thats not what she said to me" but I wont, its not cool.

edit almost forgot, how much did you pay for your netbook, I put a cost of a new screen at under R900

If it's an 8.9 incher, it must be going on 3 years or so. One would think it's useful lifespan is up, time to upgrade to newer tech.

R3,500 iirc - for the Samsung N150 Plus. Great little netbook. There are also decent 10" options from R2,500-R3,000.

Paid R800 for netbook(used) - was quoted R900 for OEM replacement lcd.

Would love to try option 3, but this model has NO external display output :-(
