Does anyone know if/where one can still find those old 8-bit "Golden China" cartridge style game consoles?

I still have a box full of game cartridges, but sadly the console died a slow death many many years ago.

I want to give my 7 year old boy an insight into the video games we had growing up, none of this PS4/Xbox One rubbish :D

If you have a China Town near you, you should look there.

The Oriental shop would be your best bet, I think most of them are called playstations for a reason :)

Checkers / Shoprite had these systems not long ago. We actually had one from a small toy store in Cape Town, but the quality was terrible...it worked though. Just difficult to find games though...beyond the 100 in one, where most are repeats.

Got one about a month ago from our local China Town. R120 with all the popular games. I also have a box full of old cartridges that works perfectly on the console.

I figure my local China mall might be the best bet.

I'm on the East Rand so I might make a turn at the East Rand Traders fleamarket in Boksburg. Might just find one there.
