Okay, I understand it's only a "special"

....but what's with the weird Scale of Packages? Who in their right mind would go for Internet 1,2 or 3 ?
Why do you even have them there?

Why would anyone pay R195 for 650mb when they can:
- pay R199 for 10GB
- pay R299 for 20GB

sure, you don't get a modem...but they are pretty cheap at the moment aren't they?

Signing up for these packages would be like paying R200 for a sandwich when you could have the Buffet for R50 :wtf:

So:

In wireless broadband Telkom introduce an affordable price, with increase in speed and more than triple the CAP compared to its mobile competitors that according to Arthur Goldstuck makes it the cheapest mobile broadband in the world.
In fixed line broadband Telkom has a monopoly over expensive ADSL lines for which they don't adjust the price for entry level ADSL, providing lower than broadband speed, low CAP and forced voice line rental that according to some studies makes it the most expensive in the world.

The only difference between the two is the last mile access.

Conclusion: A monopoly abusing its position to gain market share.

I hear an ICASA complaint coming.

The other packages work on MTN roaming and 8ta has to pay MTN fees for that and is available anywhere MTN data is, so a whole lot of the country is covered.

The new 10GB package works on 8ta 3G only and covers much much much less of the country (as per http://www.8ta.com/coverage/i5promo/ ) than MTN and thus can be much cheaper, so you get it now?

Yeah right, I dare VC or MTN to lay a complain that will have previously ripped off South African consumers shelling out again because of them

Looks like a 'catch 22 situation' for the thieves, every dog has its day :D
