Last week I bought a 8ta sim and the R149 2+1 gig data deal. I used it once in my Huawei 1752 modem, and today tried to use it again, only to be have my browser redirected to a page saying "Airtime Depleted / Spend Limit Reached / Credit Limit Reached"
I called 8ta and got this story that my sim had not been converted to something or other. So I have landed up paying R149 for less than 50 meg of data. The agent suggested that I go back to the Hellkom shop I bought the sim and data from and make them aware of their mistake and have it corrected and buy another R149 deal? Does he think I am an idiot?
Stay away from 8ta!

Bought at a Telkom Shop

I think what Khanya is asking is whether you remembered to convert the R149 to a data bundle before connecting. If not, you would have been charged OOB rates, i.e. R3/MB. This gives you 149.00/3.00 = 46.67MB instead of 3GB (or about 1.56% the amount of date that you expected).

You never bought data as far as I can decipher. You only bought airtime. That's your fault.

Eish! We know your phone is smarter than you but you can't expect it to do EVERYTHING!

Besides. You can't use or buy (or see) the "data deal" if your sim card isn't provisioned for the 8ta network.
