The 802.11n standard was released in September 2009.
During the last two days I have searched the internet for 802.11n equipment from suppliers like D-Link, Billion, Netgear, Edimax, Linksys and others, but none could be found. Once you read the fine print and notes in the datasheet, all equipment comform to draft 802.11n.
Belkin published a memo (http://www.belkin.com/pressroom/releases/uploads/09_14_09NRatificationProducts.html) stating that their draft 802.11n equipment is actually fully compliant and do not need even a firmware upgrade.
My concern is that if I buy a 802.11n Draft 2 modem/router now, in 6 months time it will be incompatible with the new models of WiFi equipment that conforms to the final 802.11n spec.
My question is: Are there critical differences between the Final Version and previous Draft 2.0 Version of 802.11n, or is it safe to buy an 802.11n Draft 2.0 router ?
