My arctic cooling fan was pretty noisy, so I used some cable ties to attach my silent 80mm fan to the GPU heatsink and now it's not only much quieter but running cooler too...

Cable ties are pretty sweet :o

Nice improvisation! :D

... as far as I'm concerned, if it works, great! I'm looking for a small 40mm fan for my northbridge cooler and will be doing the same thing :p

I got a 40cm fan :D

I hard modded it into my bro's 7950gt agp...but didnt use cable ties though...used a hammer, a nail and 4 screws...works like a charm :D

Nice!

lol!
Cable ties are the stuff, i have used to hold wireless routers and antennas up in trees while testing and so on.
the easiest way to attach a fan to a heatsink like this though is to use a small self tapping screw and screw it through the fan mounting holes and in between the fins of the heatsink.
It bites nicely and always works for me.
