Hi all
I'm having issues with my OS5 install which I'm hoping someone can assist with. Please don't underestimate my ignorance, I may be missing something very simple.

First I tried to use Apploader on Desktop manager but it wouldn't go past a certain point of the install without turning off my handset.

Here is a screen shot 2 seconds before it crashes

Here is the error

I read on another forum that you could also install it via OPTIONS - ADVANCED - WIRELESS UPDATE, but here it told me there were no available updates despite telling me I was currently using 4.6.1.272.

Could anyone help me with this?

Thanks in advance.

Wireless updates are not available for most phones and not in SA at all. This error does happens sometimes just try it again. The phone is supposed to go off during the process though and it can take 15 minutes or so to come back on so don't worry about that.

oronte - Thanks, Im trying it again and this time will leave it to switch off and back on again. I assume then that the "Fatal error" message will disappear on its own?

stevovo - My handset still works fine, aside from freezing from time to time, so I think I am having a different problem to the user on that thread.
Thanks though.

Ill report back here once Ive tried again as per oronte's suggestion.

No luck.
It actually seems that the error comes as a result of the phone turning off.

Any other suggestions? There is no problem with the connections.

Is it fully charged?
What os are you updating to (a local on or a foreign operator one)?
Can you do a full backup of your phone with desktop manager with no problems?

Yes the phone is virtually fully charged.

Im not entirely sure what you mean regarding the OS, Im updating to whatever OS5.0 that Desktop Manager sourced when it searched for updates. Does that answer your question?

Yes I successfully did a backup via Desktop Manager

Unplug your phone and restart it. Once the phone start booting plug it back in. I had the same problem. Good luck BUT I warn you its not THAT great the BB slows down a bit also

bex - I am downloading the latest version of Desktop Manager as mine was old. If this doesn't solve the problem I will try your suggestion.
Thanks

Ok thanks everyone. I updated my version of Desktop Manager and then tried again and it went off without a hitch,
Thanks for the assistance.
