8800GT vs GTS 250

I got no int cap and really curios to find out which of these cards are better. Considering selling my 8800GT and getting the GTS 250 however I have heard speculation that they are similar in performance. Any truth to this?

Would it be worth the upgrade?

GTS 250 is the same as 9800GTX+ which is a bit faster than the 9800GT which is the same as the 8800GT.

If you want a nice speed boost you should go for a GTX 260 or ATI 4870 or higher. Luckily these are coming down rapidly in price.

Do NOT buy the GTX 260! If you want performance with a "good" price go for the GTX 275 it is basicly a GTX 280/285 with lower clocks. If you oc a bit you will see performace of a GTX 285!

But then again if you still play everything with decent fps don't do an upgrade. If it has to be ok but I would wait until the end of the year because the GTX 380 (DX11) might come out and that will let the prices drop.

Cool thanks for the input. No point in upgrading for a slight performance increase.
Maybe i will wait for the 280 or 4870 to come down a bit more.

i think its going for 2.3k at ph shop with warranty,free delivery and most importantly the retail packaging

I think I might just be a bit patient and see what happens till the end of the year....Maybe the 260/280's will drop substantially. I can’t see myself ever moving to Ati again.
