Hi Guys,

My Friend bought the 10gig promo and has discovered that he's sim is open to MTN and uses the MTN network when out of coverage or just for better speed.

Should he be doing this? Will 8ta bill him extra?

Watch out for the OOB shark!

You can roam on 8ta but not at full speeds.

Its prepaid so no OB.

Bit unfair on the other networks but what can you do.. its Telkom.

The 10GB promo is only on 8ta towers. He's gonna get a nasty surprise.

It works perfectly... Faster than 8ta's network.

Is anyone elso able to access MTN on their promo?

It will, cos you're paying OOB data rates. MTN will go out of their way to give you a good time. ;)

Are you certain he is using the MTN network and not merely an MTN modem with an 8Ta sim on the 8Ta network ??

The roaming agreement between 8ta & MTN excludes the internet 10GB promo.

Your friend better check his balances. He might have to grab his ankles come billing time.

I just signed up for the 10Gig 24mnth contract yesterday, and that was my understanding - if for some reason my modem switched to another network, I reject any OOB charges.

The 2+1Gig has been working well for me, and although the signal in my area for VC is stronger, there was no sign of it roaming on the other networks.

Rather be safe than sorry....phone an 8ta shop and double-check.

Cos if you've used the data, Telkom will make sure you pay for it.

OOB only applies after you have used your 10Gb and you have clicked on the relevant pop up screen warning you that you are going OOB.

The 10Gb offer is meant to only work off 8ta towers and it is advertised as such. There is no way 8ta can bill you.
