8ta (apparently) doesn't need customers

MickeyD, 8ta don't do contracts at the moment. Only prepaid. CNA/Edgars are the most accessible places to buy an 8ta SIM... so I don't see the need to travel to a Telkom shop.

Cavedog, I gave the 8ta call centre a staff to fix the problem, which clearly didn't happen. Telkom selected CNA/Edgars as their channel partners, hence the need to ensure quality service throughout the supply chain. Apparently everything fine with MTN, Vodacom, etc... just 8ta the problem. Anyway, glad your experience has much SO much better.
 
Well since im old to Telkom Mobile / 8.ta id say

- Hey they are new (Look at Cell C took them couple years to come right!)
- Once off 1GB (8.ta = R250) ( i mean dam! )
- I went straight to Telkom Direct , rica and top-up's done without any problems
- They have Data Bundles in place already : to date Cell C / Virgin Mobile(Other new players) have no once off Data bundle options

So you know what guys? I'm happy with the prices and the data service is great. As an ISP (good) so far I cant find these prices anywhere else

My RICA was also problem free.
 
U bought the Sim, heard they gave them free at CNA/Edgars and some Telkom Direct shops, hence congestion issues will be encountered with the numbers wanting services. Those with other should know, how many were being Rica'd, topped up, validated at that time. Also note ICASA regulates pricing, competition.
 
I had no problem at all. Went to Telkom bought 2 sim cards; did the RICA in less than 10 minutes. Got home inserted the card; received my number, bought a data bundle and I'm surfing now. I must say the speeds are a lot better than I had before. Very impressed so far.

RICA'd mine today - 5 minutes at the Greenacres Telkom Direct Shop. Saw that they are splitting the store in to half between Telkom and 8ta with different branding on both sides.

Hi MickeyD, have you used your 8.ta sim card yet ? Can it register on the Telkom Network ?

Was in a hurry so I forgot to buy airtime!!!
I have an 088 number that is working 100% on the Telkom network.
 
Went to CellC shop to see there "Live dummie phones". but they only had 8 phones on display and most were old or unknown. They also had a keypad lock on so couldnt actually test the phone. Will eagerly wait and see what 8ta has to offer on post paid
