Okay, so I decided it is time to call it quits with Vodacom, as their voice service became just as bad as its data service.

I went to 8TA and bought two Microsims for my iPhone and iPad.

I also bought R149 airtime on both so that I could convert it into data bundles.

While busy doing the RICA I was told that they are giving away the Microsims at no cost - and I could get more if I wanted.

I also only paid for the data.

Is this some special? I think it is great!

Normal practise and this is how it must be done!

Dunno about microsims, but when I went to enquire about trying 8ta data they gave me a SIM for free to test whether I had a dedicated signal, and then didn't charge when I reported back that it worked, and loaded airtime. Good service!

iStore sells 8ta micro-sims for R1 in case 8ta stores run out of stock

iStore in Gateway does not deal with 8ta sims anymore due to the issue with their sims not working in the retina iPad (3rd and 4th gen). You need the "new" microsim and not even 8ta in Gateway has stock or know when they will get it.

The 8ta sim in my 3rd gen iPad started giving "invalid sim" messages about 2 weeks ago, still waiting for a replacement sim.
sigh.

Okay, I can confirm that 8ta is indeed giving away Microsims at no costs.

Just collected 4 microsims and only RICA'd them. Walked out without paying a cent.
