8ta network on PCLinuxOS

I am trying to use my Huawei E230 modem to connect to the internet in PCLinux. 8ta does not appear as a network provider in the dropdown provided by PCLinuxOS for mobile networks. How do I configure this modem to work in PCLinuxOS?

Do you know how to update packages in that distribution? There should be a package called mobile broadband provider data or similar. Update that. My ubuntu installation has 8ta out of the box

I have only started to use it yesterday. I will investigate the package you've suggested. I just hope that it won't require internet connection to do this update as the modem is my only way to connect at home.
