DAY 2 : No internet access.

Mobile Phone:W-CDMA No 3G connection / GSM edge available (NO Internet)
Modem: NO HSDPA but W-CDMA but connection is made.No webpages open

Phoned customer care they did the normal thing.....send a report to technical

BAD BAD 8ta(My guess is that they are sorting out their own network because I did manage to reg with my 8ta sim but it de-reg)

PLEASE THIS THREAD IS NOT MADE IN ORDER FOR DIS'ing 8.ta BUT TO SEE IF ANYONE ELSE IS HAVING THIS PROBLEM AND WHEN OR HOW TO GET THIS SORTED OUT
 
OK - as per request, not dissing 8ta or anything... but there's a bunch of us willing to offer you a load of "told you so".
Better the devil you know and all...
 
No internet for me too. I thought it was just me. I wonder why its taking so long to get resolved. Must be something big.

^^ 8.ta is new. I doubt if this gets fixed that it would ever go down like this again. Not to mention CellC and Virgin mobile data when they started up. It was a ****ing train smash!

8.ta internet is not working

  • Did a simswap (Was done less than 10 min's)
  • Correct Settings
  • Not working on my modem nor my GSM / 3G phone!

Those wanting to load data bundle, Check if your internet is working.
8.ta subscribers on myBB post if your internet is working. Cause there's a whole lot of people with the same problem

Its been down for 5 days now. Another thing is that when I do a manual network search I pick up SA02 which is Telkom but I can't access that network with my 8.ta simcard. So 8.ta people are officially FORCED on the MTN network.
 
The Sad but yet so funny truth
  • 8.ta customers cannot access their own network from day 1
  • 8.ta's own network has internet and voice services working fine
  • 8.ta's customer care / Telkom direct cannot find answers as to why there is no data access and why 8.ta cannot use their own network




And yes this is very sad. Thou im just happy I got a telkom simcard

Whats funny is that there is much hype behind the network yet so few people have even taken notice that there is no internet access

What news I can share is that on the 5th November there will be software available (like 8.ta dashboard or something),and wow how exciting I think im going camp outside the tower and sing Kumbayah

Ok it looks like the 8.ta internet is now working again. Thank God.
 
My connection is working on 8.ta too

Had to place it on my GSM phone connect there couple times than put it back on my modem for it to work. And im not going end this connection lol.
I seriously don't trust 8.ta anymore to buy another 1GB data bundle.

Im happy the connection is back, but what if this happens again without any reason? Alert the press / myBB / Facebook / Twitter / their website or something we living in modern times. I think a service provider who has that interaction between its customers would have less people problems in terms of customer care.


They still got alot of work to do, with its 8.ta mail service with hotmail next

So Glad I found this thread. I have been having troubles getting internet on my phone for almost 2 weeks with 8ta SIM. I called the call center and the usual I will send you the settings now. I have had the settings sent to my phone 5 times already and nothing, also manually entered the APN settings and MMS settings. By the way I am using a samsung galaxy s - with no problems on vodacom or mtn regarding internet access.

A case has been logged for me this morning and I hope to report back with good news in a few days (wish it was hours but this is Africa). While I wait anybody got internet working on Samsung galaxy S with 8ta, or anybody got an idea of what I could try.
 
No problems here. Although I have only used about R5 worth of airtime since 8ta launched, it works 120% faster than vodacom. Will load a bundle on 01/12/2010 when my current vodacom bundle expires.
