Sorry I dont, but for that price you might want to look at running NextCloud on a small pc or something (Depending on how much effort you want to go through). Or one of these:

Also, usually those My Cloud devices dont come with harddrives, they simply state their max capacity. Just something thats worth a check.

I have 7 x 1Gb usb Hdd filled with movies and tv series.

Looking for something that would make it easier to access the media from a central location.

Is it just on the local network, or do you want to access it over the internet(always risky)?

How technically inclined are you?

I had a raspberry pi, just bought a powered usb hub, and added 2 harddrives on that. I'm sharing it on the local network via Samba. Works like a charm.

Dont need a powerful device as the transcoding is being done on the clients. They access the Samba share via VLC or Kodi.

Its basically a diy version of what you want to do.

Wd normally don't sell empty drives on their consumer Nas devices.

It already has drives in it.

That's why I'm looking for an off the shelve solution.

I just want my media available on both LCD TV's / cell phone / tablet etc. via wifi

I've just tested a 4 way USB hub on my mede8er and it works but then it's not available to other devices

Look at something like freenas etc, it's really not hard to setup and there are a gazillion guides and youtube videos out there to guide you.

That is just a fancy enclosure with a single 8TB HDD in it...
It isn't a NAS or anything like that.

As I stated in another post, that WD Cloud is just a fancy enclosure with a single 8TB HDD in it.

If you want to entrust your whole collection to HDD I would recommend a hot-swap RAID setup, to have some form of redundancy.

Also not sure how many media players will be a able to read a 8 TB HDD ?

If it's like any of the other MyCloud devices you cannot connect it directly as there is no USB port but only a Lan port. I have two WD 4TB MyCloud drives and it's connected to my network switch via lan cable. There's no USB port to connect it directly to my TV, media player or laptop.

For media only it should be fine. If it's for sensitive documents and pictures I would rather go with the reduncy of a NAS with multiple drives.

You can have a single drive in a zfs pool or multiples.

Cataloging is a function of the sftware on the client.

I'm not that clued up on nas, I'd suggest you rather post in the linux forum and many will advise on which is the best way to go about this.

I have the app on my devices, can access and open/play stuff on the move, my LG TV can play Series and Movies, you can sync to external storage, it does have a USB port to connect more storage or backup.

And the best part it draw nearly nothing 8-20watt.

Thanks for info sounds like what I'm looking for.

I'll still keep my media on the Hdd's that I have already as a backup.

Whenever I get more media it comes on it's own 1Tb Hdd so I'll just copy it over to the server.

Not for the last 5 years no, wanted to upgrade and bought the Synology stuff, played with it, and packed away, still using MyCloud.
