Hey there guys! Hope all are enjoying the build up to the world cup!?!?!

Anyway, getting to the point. I just bought a '91 CTI and there are some problems with the interior. Here is the list, drivers seat is broken, speedo doesnt work, dash cracked Headlights very Dim. Now, does anyone know where and what the prices are to fix these problems? A rough estimation would be appreciated, and where. I stay in JHB south. Its a lovelly car outside and engine wise, its justt the interior thats got me down and I want to fix it up asap. The dash is worrying, as in im sure it will be costly to install. So please guys, any ideas would be HIGHLY appreciated.

Regards!!!!!

Your best bet is to contact scrap yards, there is a big one in the south I just cannot remember the name. They probably will be able to get you parts or know where.

I'f you don't mind changing the CTi spec slightly, I would go for one of the new dashboards from a scrapyard - far nicer than the original and any panel beater could fit it for you if you cannot do it yourself.

91 CTI that has a nice engine but has a dodge interior amongst a list of other probs...?

I owned 4 CTi's and they were all magic...after 20 years their interiors are allowed to be not quite up to date! :p

I paid 25k for it. It has some fuel management thing on it too. Lol the dude wouldn't stop speaking about it. Yeah the interior is not THAT bad. Hell its almost twenty years old. Okay another problem...the car won't start everytime....as in dead....nothing...and then it will suddenly turn sometimes. Could be the battery? He said I had to cold start it for the management system....can't remember what he said the name was...but said I must turn.....release then full turn to start. Dodgy?

The fact that you have dim headlights and difficulty starting points me towards a bad earth somewhere...check that out before you change the battery.

faulty/old alternator..?

Just out of interest, how much are you paying for insurance? In Durban there's a place called Spareboyz and volkspares, I think they have branches in other provinces.

Insurance is R380. Not bad considering man. Im 27 and its parked in a locked gate in yard. In Jhb south. And these things are hot man. Even in the condition its in. So anyway, the problem was the cold switch. Hooked up a flip switch to the dash to turn it off when I start it, then on when its on. Crazy. But thanks to all that put their input in, I really do appreciate it all.
