9500GT Resolution Stuck on 800x600

So I got me a Forza Geforce 9500GT 1GB DDR2 graphics card.

I installed it and connected my monitors. One in VGA one in DVI.

Installed the drivers supplied. Resolution stuck on 800x600 and 16-bit, with no option to change. Windows Aero won't activate. Yet video does play, whereas when I uninstall the drivers it doesn't.

Installed latest Nvidia drivers, 270.61. Same issue.

I even installed a clean copy of Windows 7, same issue in 32 and 64 bit.

I googled this to death.

I am THIS close to smashing the thing against the wall. Can anyone here help me out?

Intel Core2Quad Q8300
4GB DDR2 800MHz
1TB + 500GB HDD
Foxconn INT-913 mobo

Can you not force the Vista drivers to work under compatibility mode? Also try Windows update and see if it finds the right resolution for you. Failing that, try and create custom resolutions through the nVidia Control Panel

I googled this to death. Many people are sitting with the same problem. Apparently the card's Windows XP and Vista drivers do work, but just not the Windows 7 ones.

Extract the .inf file from the driver installer of the Vista version and tell windows to use that.

Get 7-Zip. Right click on the installer and tell zip to extract the files. You'll get a few files. One ending in ".inf".

Go to device manager then display adapters. Right click on your graphics card and choose update driver. Browse to the ".inf" file.

The ".inf" file is the driver.

when you run setup.exe of the driver file, it will create a folder in the C drive (C:/NVIDIA) and in there will be a few subfolders with the correct .inf file in. So hop over to device manager, find your video card/display adapter, right-click and select update driver software, select 'browse my computer for device software' and browse to the NVIDIA folder and install :)

What doesn't work?

What error did you get?

Where does it break?

Did windows accept the .inf file and it still doesn't show the correct resolutions?

Did you even follow the instructions correctly?
 
What resolution were you running before you bought the new cards? Are you 100% sure it's not your monitors? I had an old samsung 22" which was supposed to do 1680x1050 but never did more than 1400x900 coz the monitor's firmware was messed up.

I did follow everything as explained. Yes it accepted the drivers. Card still stuck on 800x600.

I have a 19" 4:3 LCD that has a native resolution of 1280x1024, and a 42" 16:9 panel that runs at 1920x1080p.
 
Have you tried uninstalling the drivers, plugging only the highest resolution monitor into the pc, re-installing the drivers, get the first monitor setup 100% then plug in the lower res monitor and set that up?
 
+1 to what Astroturf says , that's what I thought to start off with . Set it up with one monitor .
I'd even consider starting with the small monitor and then the 42" .

Is the card new ? What ports are you using ? ( DVI , D-sub , HDMI , Displayport ? )

Sorry, yes I did this as well. Tried the one then the other.
