9520 Email Issue

Hi Guys,

I'm new to the forum and need some assistance.
I have a Storm 2 which is branded MTN but I have loaded the latest vodacom firmware becase I'm using it with a Vodacom sim.

The issue I have is that the "SEND" option for new emails is greyed out. I can reply to emails and I can send a new email but only to a phonebook contact whos email is added to their details.

I have updated service books myself, requested Vodacom to send it, wiped the phone of all data, pulled the battery out during all the steps and requested HRT , deleted and re-added email accounts (2.... Live account and Web Outlook) but to know avail.When the phone was on the MTN firmware it did work.

Platform 4.2.0.220

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Hi I have not changed the theme. There is only one theme with a MTN wallpaper which I changed only the wallpaper. Reseted the theme still the same.

I have deleted the vendor.xml file. Thist is the most recent firmware from vodacom .834 MTN is on .721
 
it is grey by default. try pressing it! (if it's the mail icon in the top right hand corner, alternatively MENU=> SEND

Now that's just said! Have you noticed your send icon is greyed out but once you input an address the envolope highlights white! That doesn't happen on mine and there is no send option in the menu. Just save draft. Now this has happen after upgrading the firmwire. Will downgrade on monday an see if that sorts the problem.
 
Just a heads up... Vodaworld couldn't resolve...

Downgraded firmware didn't work, wiped handset didn't work, re-upgraded firmware.

WORKS* :-)

How did you load the latest firmware on that storm. I've struggled upgrading to a fairly recent firmware. DM wont pick it up and using app loader wont work either. :mad: I have been trying to load OS from other countries tho. Also can u send the link where you got it from.

Hi,

I installed the latest from Vodacom, my handset is MTN Branded.

1. Install the firmware to the pc
2. Go to My Computer -> Program Files or (Program Files (x86) if 64-bit OS) -> Common Files -> Research In Motion -> App Loader
3. Delete Vendor.XML ONLY
4. Hook up Blackberry to PC and start DM... Will immediately pick up that the is a newer version available and let you install... :-)

If you dont delete the Vendor.XML file it wont see any update available for you BB because the Vendor is not the same as your phone hence you delete the file...

Let me know if you come right...
