9530 Storm

I just received my 9530 Storm from China everthing works fine except for the internet there is no icon for browsing.Although it picks up it is Cell C and it shows edge.I also wanted to know what does "RIM" means since on the BB website they have a Cell C package for phones bought from a different country.

Until u activate BIS thier is no internet, hence no icon. as long as its showing edge you have no internet, once your BIS is activated it will show EDGE.

So correct me if I'm mistaken by what you just said you can't browse the internet without BIS even if you have airtime and want to browse using that?

Yes and no, if you set your apn to internet you can, but onlg once bis has been activated on the handset, until you activate bis the bbm, browser and appworld icons are disabled. You will need to activate bis at least once, even if you only keep iy active for 1 month before you reconfigure your handset to work without it.

You could possibly install opera mini and use that, but you will need to dowload it via your pc and install via desktop manager.

EDIT: email also wont work without bis, actually 90% of the apps wont wotk without it. I bb is almost iseless without bis.

I phoned customer care because whenever I dial *147# it actually call's the number.They activated my BIS and I followed the procedure and removed the battery and placed it back.Although I still don't have the browser icon?I can see it when I go to options and core applications yet the icon doesn't show to test it.

BIS can take upt o 24 hours to activate, once it is activated, mail, bbm, appworld and browser icons will be come available and your gprs/edge/3g with change to GPRS/EDGE/3G.

I waited and still nothing but I have found the browser icon now they say I don't have the service books and when I request for it nothing comes.The egde sign is still in small letters even though it is activated.
