did not want to be advertising for a site - yes it is take2.
I personally believe that for the price, it is not a good buy. Damn it is almost as much as an 8800gt which creams it.
I thought it would support dx10.1 - sadly it does not.
I heard the 3850 prices were dropped to counter this card. I would rather buy the 3850 instead of this one.
Maybe if the price were to fall to R1699-R1799 it can be worth considering.

Yeah well done to them for getting it before most reviews were out for it.
Its slower than an HD3850 which makes it nice but not great, its definately not going to challenge the 8800GT but it should drop steeply in price and become a good replacement for the 8600GT which is basically a 7600GT with DX10 support!

Official Global release of Nvidia 9600GT is on the 21st of Feb, whoever has got stock before this date is bogus!!! Let along the time it takes to ship from overseas to South Africa.
PS: Or someone had just breached the NDA they signed with Nvidia. Instock and then pre-order on take2 site???

They've just listed it, I doubt they have stock.
Their prices are often inflated when they get items early. Wait for some other places to get stock and the price will be better.

Im assuming that neither of you had a look at the link then, if an online retail store mentions that they have stock then im assuming they have stock.
You cant take Newegg.com and assume that if they dont have the stock that none exists, each area has a different manufacturer which produces the cards from reference design right? so I have read that certain manufacturers has problems with RAM initially on production of the cards and therefore they have been held back. So assuming the supplier of the cards from whichever country they came were able to produce then its reasonable to assume that the cards are available.
Newegg normally have these things first but they arent the only indicator of availability.
Besides its not like the card is worth it at the price that take2 are selling it, a 256MB 8800GT is cheaper and will perform better anyway.

rocket i hear what your saying man but i just cannot see how a tiny south african company would get a card before its release date and before newegg which is more than likely 1000 times bigger than take2
i'll bet you will place an order and wait up to a month or longer for it from take2 as they just talkin nonsense

just received my 9600gt today ... it is a pretty good card.
