ok i am fixing this laptop, its a year old laptop but it has win98 on it.
everything was erased,including usb drivers/all drivers.
Now with tears in my eyes:D:Dhow will i be able to load a usb drivers for it to get started, the cd rom is not working and the network adapters are all not working as they all have yellow exclamation marks on them.

Is there a way i can put i flash stick in and it installs 98 usb drivers automatically.
or is there a way to lan the laptop.

Please note the cd drive works a little.:D

Option 1) Buy new laptop
Option 2) Install ubuntu... however, if the system cant handle Ubuntu, try the lite version of ubuntu (forget its flavor), or install puppy linux.

i am busy with 2 laptops at the moment to fix.both run ubuntu fine and windows 98

The other one I am sure can be fixed with that gparted suggestion by PmP (PostmanPot).... this one.. if its a 98 laptop. Go with ubuntu, as ubuntu is in every way better than windows 98, and at the end of the day will run more XP applications than Windows98.

If your client has a problem with Ubuntu, offer him a price list for a new laptop.

If you want something thats very nippy and fast... but also very simple (only does the basics).. try puppylinux.

well, both laptops are able to run xp fine, they are p4 laptops, ubuntu will just have to do.
the one laptop is for a 11 yearold girl, but she is just spoilt on xp

if the cd drive works a little, then get usb drivers for the laptop and copy them across.

other option would be to take out the hdd and get an adapter so it can connect to your desktop pc.

Did your customer tell you linux was ok?

hehehe

good to see somebody else battling with wonky hardware for a change.

thought I always got the site or client with wonky hardware :D

There will be a way and means to get that laptop up and running with either win98, winXP or ubuntu...
