990 MB patch download

This is just the pre-patch; due to the size of the update, they're starting the download ahead of time.
I still wouldn't expect the patch for a couple of weeks.
 
Of course it will hit PTR. The fact that part of the patch can be downloaded already has no bearing on the length of time before it goes Live. Blizzard is trying to avoid a situation where they release an entire 1.5GB patch all on one day, and their download servers get DOS'd into oblivion. It's the same thing they've done for every major patch since about 1.12.
 
lol, last night I gave my wife a 10min telephonic lecture on my sons overuse of bandwidth .....

its eu its not a patch its part of the background downloader , this content might change a bit though by downloading this you "might" download 5-10 mb to many that will blizzard either recorded or removed with the PTR testing, or you can wait till patch day and experience very slow download rates. I suggest downloading it now when the real patch come you will maybe download 30-50 more instead of 1 big patch
 
And to think I just got a beta invite (1.88GB download). This month is going to be very rough on my cap :(
 
Some debate over whether the patch will make the public test realm. It have been tested already on the beta servers ;)

Yea it may only be a pre-patch but it could also be the full patch. Whatever it may be though, it is good news that the patch may be only weeks away. The fact that it was put down for upload way before the server shutdowns for next week does say something though.

And after closing WoW the background downloader starts downloading the patch thanks to its newly updated tools :)

Thankfully mine downloaded through my local cap by some small miracle ^.^

Lucky you, due to the torrent download nature of the download, I have used just short of 2GB for this download.
 
Hmm the torrents barely connected. Direct download went at 64kb/s through my local connection so I was quite chuffed :)

As a sidenote,grab the filename from the wow-folder's downloader for any patches you need to download,then search for it on filemirrors.com for some direct download love :)
 
Is there any chance of uploading the US and EU versions locally? there will be 2 more incoming +/- 1.2 gb more.

unfortunatly mine downloaded through my unshaped acc last night /cry

I thought it was just a launcher update cause when I first logged on for the night I saw it update so I logged off afterwards to see how big the patch was but i didn't start downloading anything so I thought that was that, switched to unshaped for some pvp then didn't switch back when I went to bed.

Damn did I get a nasty suprise this morning.

Haha almost happened to me :P Went unshaped for raid,afterwards I logged and saw the background downloader icon at the clock and knew ***** was coming so disconnected and left it to use my local acc ;)
