Could some ISP's or a brain please tell me why ISP's charge a flat rate for local and international traffic on their co-location packages.

Apparently traffic is seen as the same. Can I assume this is how they make a profit by combining the two.

Maybe someone can tell me if there is a company that can sell me local only bandwidth for legitimate purposes at a cheaper rate.

Any advice will be appreciated.

check Datapro (now Vox...?)
They have a bunch of packages, offered us a 'Megaline' (1Mbps local, 256kbps international) uncapped, unshaped. Which apparently unique service...
OK admittedly this is a diginet line, but perhaps the have something similar on ADSL???

WebAfrica, OpenWeb, Axxess... all do local only.

Guys, you're missing the point. varktjop is talking about colo, not ADSL or fibre.

varktjop, to be honest with you, even though colo works different from connectivity, telkom charge by the meg, regardless if it's local or international. This is also just another way to make money from South Africans who want to enjoy the freedom of the internet.
