Thought I had this rig waxed on my first post, but there's a wealth of knowledgeable people here on MyBB, so I learnt a lot and have finally settled on the components. Going back to the original Asus M4A77TD PRO motherboard. Seeing responses on this forum on this motherboard, and the net....it looks like a safe bet.
