Hi,first of I am currently having problems with my Samsung T260 screen. Works fine for a few days then starts flashing a grey screen. No matter what I do it wont go back to normal. Considering a new 27" screen is 3-4k is there any place in PTA/JHB that I can have the screen looked at just to see IF something can be done?
If not will maybe be looking at when IC will have one of those "trade in" weekends. Although they don't seem to happen that often.

Secondly looking to get myself an SSD. The OCZ Vector looks like a very good choice. Any other suggestions?

Thirdly I have got a broken 2TB hard drive still under warranty. When I get the new one I am looking at a casing for it as well as the 1TB that's in my laptop at the moment
Looking at these two. Any other options/suggestions?

Hi resolve

As to your first issue, it is not something I have not encountered myself before - that's the good news. I spent many hours (wasted) trying to solve it (bad news) but eventually (good news) it was the cable. What connection is it? VGA, HDMI or DVI? If VGA, that was my issue, signal 14 (wake up signal I think) was dead. Perhaps just try the cable an you may be sorted.

Thanks but its not the cable. I have tried VGA,HDMI and DVI. Even when its ONLY the power cable plugged in it still does the same.

Now that I actually think about it, when it gave me the grey screen, the first thing I did was to replace the VGA with HDMI. It still gave me the grey screen. Was it still in that "grey screen mode" because of the VGA cable or should it have worked right away when I replaced it with the HDMI? The next time the screen starts up again and is working properly I will use the HDMI from the start. Maybe that will work.

Sorry not really sure why you replied with that :). Was only interested in the R800-R1000 you will be getting of on a new 27" screen. But how does that work exactly when I give them the screen. Did you mean they will send it to Samsung for free repair then resell it or give it back. Does it depend on whether I want the discount on the new screen?

Hi there
There is a company in PTA called the notebook company they will probably be able to help you with repairs on your screen

Hi There,
try the screen on another pc to isolate if it is the VGA but by what you have tried it is unlikely to be that.
It could be worthwhile taking it in to samsung for them to test it out.

FOr the SSD there are a number of options out there and there have been comments on this site in the last few months. DO a search as I remember one post did have some performance comparisons on it.

Regards

Tim

Thanks for the tip. The screen is currently working with the HDMI cable, but will have to see if it stays this way.
