A first look at the PlayStation 5 controller

Images filed with the Japanese Patent Office have provided the first look at what the upcoming PlayStation 5 controller may look like.

According to these sketches, there doesn't appear to be much that is significantly different when compared with the current DualShock 4 controller, but there are some minor changes.

The PS4 is very late into its life cycle, so there's nothing unexpected here. Also, rumours are that the PS5 is basically a PS4 Megapro, with all games being supported at lower fidelity on the PS4.

I'm surprised they would still keep so much real estate for the track pad thing and leave the option button still so tiny.

I've yet to play a game that doesn't use the track pad as just another button, and all the games use the options button as an important input device.
