A helpful Telkom Employee (BELIEVE IT!!!)

My first reaction was a laughing fit. How much more primitive can a telecommunications provider get ? Now they wanna implement a per usage billing system in ADSL ??
The convenient flatrate has gone for a ball of ****.

I just dont get this... when will this stop ??

wtf!
Well done Telkom. if you actually do manage to pull this off , your going to loose the majority of your adsl clients i recon.

please of please let the SNO be a 100 or even a trillion times better than telkom.. or at least get some scientists in there to labotomise the whole of telkom and maybe give them a braincell or 2.. an Amoeba could run the telkscum company better than it is been run now..

for **** sakes.. catch a wake up telkom and get with the 21st centuary..

R100 per GIG??? Are they out of their F*@!ing minds? Maybe we should gather all 70000+ adsl users and buy 1.4 mil gigs under one username or something, might cost 85c a gig! I might be able to afford 250 mb a month at this rate For #@<& sake.

If this happened at that rate I would have to cancel my ADSL subscription. Couldn't afford it. I need 6-10GB per month. I can't afford to pay an additional R600-R1000 in bandwidth costs.

I'm in the same boat. I need 6 - 10 gigs a month, but also can't afford to spend that kinda cash. I really can't wait to see telkom suffer. It's coming, albeit slowly.

EDIT: You know, I've been thinking. What if this is a ploy by telkom? What if they send out a figure of R100, setting an expectation, and then come in "considerably" cheaper at say R60 a gig. Still WAY above acceptable levels, obviously, but at least it's not R100.

It's a classic customer service ploy - set an expectation and better it.

If this happens, I think everybody should cancel there accounts or stop paying in a mass protest. And I'm not just saying for the DSL accounts, stop paying for everything that comes from Telkom. I know that it will not make a dent in their pocket as they have already sucked us dry, but they will know (and they do already) that we are sick and tired of being monopolised. They need to open up the international pipes, to more that one governing body, because if it stays they way it is country will never go forward.

6% GDP growth what this country is aiming for, will be like trying to find a needle in a haystack at night, blindfolded with a gun to your head. Jobs cant be created, development cant take place and the global market is 3 gigs big or R100 per gig... do we have a choice? I wonder. If South Africa never had this hurdle to cross, we would be competing head on with the likes of India, Ireland or even Japan for a destination of chose. Creating jobs in almost if not all sectors of industry.
