Yes, I know. Youve heard it all before.
A few months ago, I decided to get myself a landline. Since Ive read all the rants about Neotel and Telkom, I decided to go with the old saying: Better the devil you know.
Anyway, heres my rant: Once I ordered my line (Closer 2 Calling plan), the wait began. To my surprise and especially considering the posts Ive seen here, Telkom sent a technician in EXACTLY a week later. Yes, he battled to install the line as the walls at the flat where I live are bladdy thick! Wifey told me he actually drilled 3 holes with a loooong bit that just wasnt long enough
And Happiness prevailed!
Till...
Get home 2 days after my line is installed and its dead. Nothing.
So I wait till the next day and give telkom a call. I held on for _JUST_ over an hour before I was greeted by a guy who couldnt understand what I was saying. So I ask to speak to someone else and the idiot disconnects me.
The anger starts...
I call back and another eternity later, I get through t ANOTHER IDIOT. So, after a further fifteen minutes on the phone, I am EVENTUALLY put through to a chick who actually logs the fault and gives me the ref number. So the wait begins... 5 days later (Tuesday), I decide to call again. Surprisingly, I get through within 22 minutes and after some angry words, I am assured that a technician will attend to the problem within 2 days. 2 days later, I give them another call. YEAH! they PROMISE that someone will be there in 2 days!!!
So... I wait a week and call back. I POLITELY inform the consultant that IF MY LINE ISNT FIXED IN @ DAYS, CANCEL IT. The very next day, a techie turns up and sorts out the line in a few minutes (He actually called someone at his office and HE fixed the line. So all was well, until...
2 days later, I get home to find that I cant make any calls. So...
I call Telkom. I am politely informed that Y LINE HAS BEEN CANCELLED, AS PER REQUEST. I swore. I offended somebodys parents (among other things. Forgive me, Im coloured) and had to call ANOTHER number to have my service re-instated. Unfortunately, I have to call during office hours. So, the next day, I call, complain, bitch and moan and eventually, they inform me that I have to re-apply for a line. I tell them to **** off. I call back again later that day and a well spoken guy sorts it out in a few minutes... but I have to wait for a technician to come in and connect my line. Another week. Okay, at least its gonna get done. BTW, they had to go back and listen to recordings to verify that what I had said was correct and that it was actually their fault.
Anyway, EVENTUALLY all was good in the universe... until...
I decided to go Broadband. Since I already has a telkom line, I thought "Why not?"
hehehe...
I gave telkom a call and they IMMEDIATELY gave me my user details with a promise that my I would get a call a week later to let me know that I can use the line. I did a self install, since I already had a Mega 100 WR router
So...
3 days later, this techie gives me a call and lets me knw that my line was ready. So, I go home and all is well... I setup the router, get the line going, verify and start browsing. All is good! Until...
I got my bill this morning.
Ive been charged for DSL Fast x2, Closer 2 x 2, T1 All Access for March and April all on one bill. I queried and was told that "this is for your current bill, this is in advance blah blah blah...
So, Im waiting for next months bill and GOD help Telkom if theres something on there I dont like or understand. I ordered Do Broadband ( 1G int, 10G local) but I cant for the life of me figure out whats going on on the bill. If I put it up here, can SOMEONE explain it to me?
Also, what more can I expect from these idiots???
