Retarded third world. Wants everything for nothing.

They learned well from those in the first world who push to have copyright extended every time it is about to expire, meaning they might have to start working for a living and create something new.

Quite simple really.
If people could buy a blu-ray movie for a reasonable price (absolute max of R100, possibly 125 for a new movie) they would sell 10x more in SA.
New Movie DVD's should not sell for more than R100, more reasonable would be around R50-R75. They should be making their money at the cinema, not 20 years after the movie was made. Same goes for music.

R50 for blu-ray would be my impulse buy upper limit. Now that DVD has been superseded I wouldn't be inclined to buy it at all, but if the discs cost a few Rand I might.

The point of copyright is to provide exclusive rights for a short time and it was never intended as a means to benefit the creator, but rather society at large by giving a small encouragement to create, with the intended end goal that what is created moves into the public domain, so others could use it and build upon it.

And frankly 5 years is more than long enough to make a profit. Current copyright is essentially welfare for lazy people who don't want to work for a living.

I am fairly sure that I agree with you. But instead of trying to tell 'tards that they are being greedy, rather obligate them to support their product in exchange for the right to continue to be greedy.

No problem with that - think of the number of times that technology has changed in a century. The cost of replacing the media so that I can effect my licence to access the content will soon cut the crap to a minimum.

You don't fight stupity by breaking laws only - you change the laws to make to playing field fair. You want copyright, I want fair use.

It is probably me but I honestly don't follow what you're saying here. Perhaps you could reword it?
