A nice sipping brandy

So I think for the majority of us, brandy is best enjoyed with a mixer (Coke, Sprite, OJ, Ginger Beer and such). My question is, do any of you enjoy a good sipping brandy you'd recommend? I like my whiskey straight and while I enjoy brandy with a mixer, I want to try something that I can have straight as well. Hennessy naturally springs to mind but I see it's quite pricey. Any others I can look at?

Occasionally. Most of the 10 year stuff is good. Kwv5 is almost good enough to sip if your on a tight budget. I think the KWV( not 100% sure) "10 year potstill" black bottle is probably the best. Even better than hennesy for me at about half the price.

Potstill is the way to go. Boplaas and KWV has a few excellent options. Klipdrift Gold also not bad.

Get yourself a copy of the latest Platter's wine guide. They now include ratings for SA's brandy's.

At that price I'm too scared to open it in the first place! Not sure what occasion might warrant opening a R700k bottle of tack. That being said, if you can afford the bottle in the first place, you can probably afford to drink it and replace it...

One of the reasons I was eyeing it. Scared after paying that amount it would not be as good as the Van Rhyn 10yr.
