Hi all,

I thought I would share this with everyone still having to wait 2 months for and ADSL installation.

I applied for ADSL somewhere in the 1 - 4 of July. The testing and order validation started and a date was given of the 18th of July 2005. After phoning them in this week and telling them that it would suite me better if they came this week. Instead of next Monday I was told the date is 18 August 2005. Which is obviously a month later.

So the other night while driving in town probably about 6pm I get a call from the Telkom techie wanting to know whether it would be okay with me if he came tonight after 8pm and install my line. After struggling to keep the car on the road from the shock I agreed. 8 PM came and the phone rang. Was the same guy, but unfortunately could notdo it tonight cause they never stated on the order that I have ISDN, but he will see me tomorrow (last) night at 6pm. This did happen and things are just gr8 and even in such a short space of time.

The biggest joke was that this guy lives around the corner from me and I was so tempted before to take my ADSL order number to him and ask him whether he could help me a bit here to move this thing on. He said I should have done that.

Telkom needs more people like that and their service levels would be much better. As always we never have hassels with the techie but the service desks need a lot of work.

So maybe this proves that Kaapstad is not SLAAPSTAD when it comes to getting faster ADSL installations.

hey man. So you have your adsl line up and running now! Thats great I am also waiting for that magical call to come and some saying we will install now/tomorrow/the next day. what ever.

Conserning your isdn was it a problem in the end what needed to happen with the isdn service, what was the implications on your adsl installation!

Sorry Manson, The M-Web part was that I phoned them to upgrade my account to ADSL. At the point of speaking to them on the phone I was connected with a Telkom ADSL account just to test.

Spoke to a lady on the phone she said it would take 30 minutes. Disconnected the Telkom ADSL account and put the new M-Web username and password in and it worked 2 minutes later. :)

Ass sazin, Welcome to the Myadsl forums :) Basically they had to take the ISDN out as I don't need it anymore seeing I am running ADSL now. I don't know why however this pushed the installation date a day on.

PS> *me looks down to where the ISDN box is still mounted against the wall* That should have been removed. Will have to let Telscum know they forgot some of their parts :)

Reminds me of when I first got ADSL.
I had a similar experience.

In my case I stopped outside the Telkom Exchange and spoke to a techie.
I was totally green.
I asked if the Exchange was ADSL Enabled.
He found out for me in a matter of minutes and then phoned me back a week later to see if I got sorted out. That phone call from him was not expected and I will never forget his assistance and friendliness.

MWeb as my ISP was also very helpful and the transition was OK.
Just a pity they are so expensive. Touché to Telkom.

Next month, August 2005, will be two years since I got first got ADSL.

Thanx Mean_Monster. Well yeah i have isdn so when my adsl comes I hope it doesn't cause any issues. I read in a add that the reduced rates are not for people with pre-paid or isdn! so I hope i misunderstood that!
