So i know the rule is that if you are 40km/h over the speed limit its an appear in court !

is this for any speed fine you receive ? or only if they pull you over ?

if your doing say 110 in a 60, is that an appear in court ? even if its by a mobile, or stationary camera ?

Yeah that is likely to end in court & a heavy fine.

EDIT: You might also want to check the regulations of any professional body you plan on joining later. I think it should be fine for speeding, but I know they give people grief who got caught driving drunk.

anyone have any first hand experience ?

i know my one friend paid R2000 before going to court for 184 in a 120 zone ? so ya.

What area was this in? It is going to depend on whether the new AARTO system is in effect yet.

Either way, if you weren't pulled over, you will need to be served with a summons to appear before you can go to court. In the case of AARTO, they don't use regular courts, and you will receive this summons by registered mail.

When you do get something that has a court date on it, try to go an speak with the prosecutor before the court date to see if you can make an arrangement of some kind.

it was on the way to durbs, was 126 in an 80 zone ? its like just after harrismith going towards durban.

which court do i go to then ? do i have to drive to harrismith !

It would be somewhere in KZN. Get an attorney in the area to make a representation on your behalf and see if he can get it squashed.
