I just read the thread "Mother Nature is Not Our Friend" and something became apparent, people are using a word, and a phrase, expecting all and sundry to understand their meaning. So let's have it:

What is the definition of Mother Nature?
What is the definition of Nature?

More importantly:

When one invokes "Mother Nature", what is the image, and concept, that comes to mind?
Same for "Nature".

Normally, at this point, I would give you my understanding but I am really interested in what you think and do not want to bias your thoughts.

Why Mother?
First of all Mother gives birth...
She nurtures,protects,provides and instills knowledge..

And of course Nature receives ... water, seed , etc. She is the receiver therefore Mother...
