When I watched this video this morning I was so embarrassed by what came out her mouth just utter filth. I support the "decolonise" education by adding in more African literature and African Geopolitics.
 
It has taken many hundreds of years for Western science to get to where it is today.

So in trying to further and better yourselves, you are going to send yourselves back 1000 years and start again.

Go for it.

To add, Newton's full thought when observing the apple falling was "if the apple falls from the tree, does the earth also fall?" Some contemporary thinking at the time suggested that it wasn't that the apple fell, but rather that the earth came up to meet it. Newton's invention of calculus helped him to demonstrate that this was wrong, and that the earth was the main attractor, and that the apple had minimal effect (in fact, not everything has a gravitational pull, although those kinds of objects that lack one are affected by the pulls of other things in the cosmos).

However, he had no idea how far out he was about how gravity actually works, because we now know that if the earth had to stop spinning, and us with it, we'd fly off because there are other attractor forces that keep us down here. The discovery of gravitational waves affecting space-time would have exploded his brain.
 
There is no such thing as "western" science. Contributions to science come from all over the world. In fact the language of science, math, has very significant Arab and Chinese origins.

I say they all jump off a high rise building, then they can proof that gravity is western concept too and has no place in Africa....
 
To be quite honest, free tertiary education is pointless without a coherent primary and secondary education as this student proves.

I cannot see why we should be so surprised that our education system is such a mess when our President has risen to the highest public office in the land without a formal education. He understands that education is superfluous because he himself has never needed it.
 
The universities themselves were built with colonial scientific building techniques. Better demolish them.

That Friend, is the 64 Million Dollar Question. Seems admission standards are now so low, my Jack Russell, can also qualify for University admission.
 
Besides the clearly idiotic statements about science by the one person, I was just as, or perhaps, slightly more bothered by the other person who got uptight at the (I assume) white person who interjected. What the blue blazes garbage came out of her mouth about 'safe spaces' and so on. And she had to go on and repeat it several times.

Safe spaces in general are draconian concepts, the whole point of debates is to openly discuss and more importantly, challenge ideas, not just blindly accept them

While I agree that was disconcerting, we have to remember that interruptions would not be allowed in any formal setting. As much as I sympathise with his exasperation, interruption doesn't help. Just rebut the statement when the next turn to speak comes along to avoid giving them "ammunition" in how they're being "oppressed".

I agree with that, however it was what she said, and the fact that she ignored his first apology to go on and on about it. And even when he apologised she still went on some more. It was unnecessary and deliberately humiliating, not to mention I just don't hold with all the PC bulldust about 'safe spaces' and whatever other BS she said. Why not just have the simple rules of any open discussion - listen to who is speaking and wait for the chair to recognise you to comment / rebut.
