An enterprising hacker has demonstrated how a simple web page can reset various Samsung phones back to the state they left the factory - enabling a click, bump or text to take out a victim's mobe entirely.

...but new details are coming to light that indicate the issue extends beyond Samsung's product line — and that the dialer in some versions of Android may by the cause. Dylan Reeve writes that he was able to replicate the same behavior on both a HTC One X running HTC Sense 4.0 and a Motorola Defy running a version of CyanogenMod. The Next Web has confirmed the issue also exists on the HTC Desire running Android 2.2...

I know it's been posted before elsewhere, but Samsung says this has been fixed already. Probably why some people get it in a hit-and-miss fashion. Now they should just let us know in which update it has been fixed, actually ... seeing as SA didn't get all of them for the S3.

Old bug, has been sorted in the main tree ages ago. So I guess you have to blame the OEM's for not updating their repo's

Shows you how big the problem with slow updates really is. Time to move to an OS that got a faster update path.
